Opcenter Execution 2410 Release Highlight

Jan Tichý
Solution Architect & CEO

Siemens has just released Opcenter Execution 2410, bringing major updates across performance, integration, and usability. As a manufacturing digitalization consultant, I’ve reviewed the release notes and picked the top improvements you shouldn’t miss.

🔍 Top Picks from Opcenter Execution 2410

Transaction Trace Logging
You can now log only errors, which simplifies debugging and reduces system noise. This makes monitoring far more efficient, especially in large-scale deployments.

PostgreSQL Support (Technical Preview)
A big step forward – you’re no longer locked into Oracle or MSSQL. This could significantly cut database license costs in the future.

Single Sign-On (SSO)
Seamless embedding of the Opcenter portal into third-party apps (such as SCADA) is now possible, providing a smoother operator experience and reducing login fatigue.

Deep Links
Directly open specific portal pages via URL – useful for integrations and personalized workflows.

Broadcast Messages via SignalR
Enable real-time event notifications in the portal. This boosts responsiveness in operations and improves communication between systems and users.

📦 Containerization & Cloud Flexibility

  • AWS with MSSQL on VM Azure? ✅
  • Azure with Oracle on VM Azure? ✅

This release brings more flexible cloud/container deployment scenarios, allowing manufacturers to run Opcenter Execution in hybrid architectures with greater freedom.

🌐 API Enhancements

  • Retrieve attached documents directly via REST API.
This is a major improvement for system integrations, opening the door to tighter connections with PLM, ERP, or QMS systems.

🖥️ Portal Improvements

  • Improved navigation with direct tabbing into the command bar.
Small change, but it increases usability and saves time for operators working through repetitive tasks.

⚡ Electronics-Specific Features

  • Enhanced Production Client – Now you can track assembly details such as tool usage. Example: log which screw or torque driver was used.
  • Auto-fill Capabilities – Reduce operator clicks with preloaded assembly or data collection information.

⚠️ Important Heads-Up

  • CrystalReports end-of-life: 12/31/2024
If your system still relies on CrystalReports, now is the time to plan your migration. I’m personally considering developing a replacement that supports:
  • Multi-language output
  • Barcode controls
  • Advanced scheduling
